Our Dear Goose is 17 months old today! And let me tell you, her parents are:
A) Thrilled and blessed to have her;
B) Amazed at the pace at which she is learning words, requests (i.e., "Put the newspaper in the recycling bin"--which she does, without fail), and objects;
C) Counting down the days until she goes to the church Nursery!
In the Mormon Church, Sunday services last 3 hours. Yeah, far cry from the 45-minute Catholic Mass that Timo grew up with. Once a child turns 18 months, he or she attends Nursery for the last 2 hours of church. In an unscientific polling of parents, every parent cannot wait for that blissful time when their child is old enough to go to Nursery.
Sure, there may be tears at the separation, potty breaks, etc. For us, once Goose hit about 12 months old, the last 2 hours of church provoked jitters as we shuffled her between Timo (in the second hour, thus missing Sunday School) and Becky (in the third hour, who brings her to the Nursery anyhow, as Becky is the Nursery leader). She could never sit still in Sunday School for 30-45 minutes. So Timo would take her outside, or hang out in the lobby with the other dads whose precocious toddlers precluded them from partaking in Sunday School as well.
We just hope that Goose's 3rd-hour exposure to the Nursery over the last few months will help ease her transition.

She is absolutely adorable! We had a good time catching up a little on your blog, which is very entertaining. Thanks again for the wonderful time on Sunday. The food was delicious, and we loved getting to know you guys a little better! It's so great to have you in the ward.
What a cutie. this is the first look I've had in a month, and let me say, she looks like she's growing and growing sooo fast!
I hear ya, on the nursery thing. Our non-conventional London ward took Sammie into nursery at 13-14 months, a real blessing. Too bad that's not the norm, eh?
